Year 10 Chemistry - CSIRO CREST Project
Posted on February 20th, 2008 in Chemistry, Curriculum |
Congratulations to the Year 10 Chemistry students who have started their CSIRO Crest Projects. These research projects require the students to design their own scientific investigation into a topic of their own choice. The student must choose a topic which has a real life application, and exhibit perseverance, integrity and creativity.
CREATIVITY! – our QAHS students have truly shown this - as indicated by some of these amazing topics:
- The efficiency of the QAHS air-conditioners under varying usage and conditions
- The artificial seeding of clouds
- The effects of CO2 levels, and the resulting pH changes, on aquatic plants
- The cost effectiveness of hair removal products
- The possibility of using waste concrete products as water holding bodies in soil
- The effect of Low GI diets on hunger
- The effects of solitary confinement
- Non-Newtonian fluids and their possible applications
- Extending the life of cut flowers
- Solar Thermal Power Generation and its effectiveness at night
- Lead levels in imported toys
- The effect of various common liquids on the exoskeleton of cockroaches
- The possibility of an oil layer reducing evaporation from a water body
GREAT IDEAS! Congratulations to All!
