2018 Gold Coast Science Competition – 1st Place again!
During week 7, QAHS hosted the annual Gold Coast Science Competition. The event collects the best STEM projects from South East Queensland, with entries from Year 1 through to Year 12 students. Entries are judged in the categories of:
- Classified Collections
- Communicating Science
- Engineering and Technology
- Environmental Action
- Science and Technology
The quality of work submitted, showcases the great STEM talent in our region and completely filled our upstairs laboratories. The judging was completed on Monday 27 August by STEM teachers throughout the region and provides teachers with a great opportunity to discuss ideas in STEM education. On Thursday evening our lecture theatre was packed for the awards ceremony presented by Professor Richard John of Griffith University.
This year, QAHS won overall 1st Place, recognising the amazing student talent in STEM at QAHS. The following students received official places in the senior division:
