2018 National Cross Country Championships
Both Sian Fennell and Stephanie Hall competed recently in the Australian National Cross Country Championships held at Maleny on the Sunshine Coast. Both students performed exceptionally well with Sian coming 14th overall with her relay team achieving 1st place. Stephanie came 19th overall and achieving 1st in her time trial, while her relay team achieved 3rd place. Please see below for Stephanie’s reflection:
“I was pleased with my result at nationals. I came 19th for the 6km in the 18-19 year old women’s age category so most of my competitors were already in university. I placed in the top 6 for Queensland in this race which meant I was considered for a team medal. As a Queensland team we placed 3rd so I received a bronze medal. Today I had an individual 2km time trial where I only compete against 18 year old girls that were still in school and came first so I am very happy :). Sian had a great performance too. We also had an excursion on the Sunday to Australia Zoo.”
Well done to both Stephanie and Sian for your outstanding achievements. The whole of QAHS is proud of your exceptional efforts.
As Stephanie reaches the completion of her QAHS journey, it is timely to recognise what an absolute inspiration she has been throughout her time here. Her running has gone from strength to strength while she has at the same time kept well and truly on top of her academic pursuits. She truly is the definition of an IB Learner, and has been a great example of the QAHS way for both peers and junior students alike.
