2019 CLTAQ Speech Competition

On Saturday 25 May, eighteen Mandarin students took part in the annual CLTAQ and Bridge Speech Competition at the Queensland University of Technology, exemplifying the IB Learner Profile attributes. All students proved to be Knowledgeable, Communicators and Risk Takers.

The CLTAQ Competition this year was highly competitive as there were 400 students from 53 school across Queensland participating. The first place winners in each division will be awarded an 11 day Shanghai-Beijing Study Tour from 28 June – 8 July. Year 10 students were required to speak for 2 to 2.5 minutes, while Year 11 and 12 students were required to speak for 2.5 – 3 minutes without looking at notes or scripts.

For the Bridge competition, each student was required to speak for 2 – 3 minutes plus perform a talent related to the culture. The 1st and the 2nd place winners are eligible to compete in the semi –final and final competitions in China from 7 – 22 October this year. Congratulations to the students who received a placing.

Congratulations also goes to Year 10 student Joseph Lee who was selected by the Queensland Department of Education to participate in this year’s Shanghai International Sister Cities Youth Camp from 16 July – 1 August.
