Anyone for handball?

The start of Term 2 brought the introduction of handball courts to QAHS. As part of a new Health and Wellbeing Committee initiative, the house coloured courts were introduced with the intention of encouraging students to get active.

The Health and Wellbeing Committee aims to encourage healthy habits in students, thus enhancing social and emotional wellbeing. A number of initiatives have been organised by the Health and Wellness Committee previously, Health and Wellbeing cartsome of which include the introduction of a wellness trolley, complete with picnic blankets and cushions, as well as green tea and posters exhibiting power poses during exam blocks.

The addition of handball to the extensive repertoire of physical activities offered for CAS will aid in the reinforcement of the Health and Wellbeing Committee’s current ‘movement’ mantra. The committee hopes that the handball courts will encourage students to get active at lunch time, as well as before and after school.

Year 12 student Andrei Constantin said, “I love the new handball courts. They take me back to primary school.”

Paige Morgan added, “The new handball courts are a great way to get competitive with your friends. It is such a great way to relax and have a break from the workload of Year 12! I would definitely recommend that everyone uses them, whether you’re new at it or a pro.”
