Assembly welcome to Anna Foran
We welcomed 2015 graduate Anna Foran to our assembly last week and thank her for sharing her reflections on her time at QAHS. Whilst talking with Anna after the assembly about how she is finding her university studies, she noted that studying Theory of Knowledge (TOK) has been one of the most important and valued aspects of the IB Diploma. We hear this often from graduates, who admit they don’t quite appreciate the significant learnings from TOK until they are in tertiary learning environments. Anna is studying Speech Pathology at the University of Queensland.
At the end of 2016 Anna was invited to be the 2016 Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra’s Youth Concerto Opportunity. Exceptional young musicians are given the opportunity to select and perform a Concerto movement as a soloist backed by full Symphony Orchestra. Anna selected the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D major OP.61 Third Movement to perform as part of the “By Request ” concerts held at the Queensland Academies Health Sciences Campus in November 2016.
