One of the highlights of the school year is the QAHS illustrious, Inter-House Battle of the Bands Competition. Each house formed their own band consisting of upwards of twenty members to perform the set song, All Star by Smashmouth and one song of their choosing. Tasked with having to perform well, being dressed to impress, engaging with the audience and performing their own unique rendition of the songs, each band went above and beyond and the competition was fierce. The atmosphere was electric and extremely supportive as the crowd cheered, screamed, danced and moshed to the performances and the competition was tight. Naturally, there can only be one winner and this year Ignis were crowned champion by a hair after performing a medley of the set song and their chosen song Timber by Kidzbop.

Each year three industry professionals are invited to judge the event and perform, and this year we were graced with Lou Kacer of Banks and the Beautiful, Jesse Luque who teaches at Bremer State High School and is the guitarist for Brisbane band The Lost Knights, and India Dupriez who is a rising popstar, signed to a management team in the states. Their expertise is valued and their feedback truly helps in shaping the student's growth in their music capabilities.

Year 12 students Lucinda Murray and Flynn Edwards also performed solo acts during the event. Each performance was met with a roar of applause and awe as the two students demonstrated their talent to their peers, staff and community.
With over one hundred students involved in the event and a packed audience of students, staff, parents, friends, alumni and industry professionals in attendance, it is no wonder why this event is regarded so highly. A massive congratulations to all involved. The event truly does get bigger and better each year.
