Four QAHS athletes attended the QLD State Athletics Championships across week 3 of this term. The championships were held in Cairns and so it was inevitable that the heat and humidity played a role in performance, especially for long distance track events. Despite this QAHS' athletes demonstrated that their hard work and perseverance during training was very worthwhile.
Michael Hall finished 1st place in the 1500m and 2nd place in the 300m races qualifying for the National championships in Perth later in the year.
Callum Janetzki finished 7th place in both of his 1500m and 3000m races, again qualifying for the National championships.
Lily Buchanan finished 5th place in the 400m qualifying for the national club championships.
Oscar Rutherford qualified for the 1500m final in his age category.
Well done to those students for their achievements and QAHS wishes those who progress to nationals all the very best.
It has been an exceptional year of athletic achievement and QAHS congratulates all students who have competed in Broadwater, South Coast and Queensland championships.
