KOKODA is finally back!
After a tumultuous 2020 and The Kokoda Challenge being cancelled, QAHS has already started preparing for the great challenge that is Kokoda 2021. The 96km journey emulating the Papau New Guinea Kokoda track, made famous through WW2, will take place on 17 - 18 July.
We are lucky to have two teams of dedicated young people in Years 10 and 11, competing in the Stan Bisset 96KM Cup. At the moment the group is training hard (more to come) and fundraising for the Kokoda Youth Foundation.
Our training consists of two main elements:
GRIT training undertaken every Monday, Wednesday and Friday Mornings.- Training hikes undertaken on every second Saturday.
We are two training hikes in with a third to come this Saturday (rain, hail or shine). The enthusiasm and vigour at which the students attack these hikes is inspiring. But even more so the comradery, support and mental awareness of the group to work as a team and develop together, leaving no one behind is very special.
Keep an eye out for more details of our Kokoda journey and some more pictures and anecdotes from our students next time.
