This term the Year 10 Global Learners classes have been focussing on the United Nations sustainable development goals and ways in which they can be of service to the QAHS, local, national and global communities.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve them all by 2030.
To introduce the SDG to QAHS the first annual 'it starts with me' pledge day was held in Week 3. Students and staff developed a pledge for positive change aligned with the SDG and posted them to the positive change wall in the refectory.
Examples of pledges made include:
'To reduce plastic bottles by carrying a reusable bottle'
'To only buy a coffee when I have my keep-cup'
'To grow veggies at home for the family'
Well done to all students and staff for their carefully thought out pledges for positive change. What will you pledge to see positive change in the World? Together we can work towards meeting the SDG by 2030.
