QAHS was privileged to host neuropsychiatrist Professor Harry McConnell for a two-part lunchtime lecture across Tuesday and Wednesday this week. In addition to being a QAHS parent and School Council member, Professor McConnell is the Clinical Sub Dean at Griffith University School of Medicine and Director of Neurosciences at St. Vincent's Hospital, Brisbane. Students were provided with an up close and personal look into the life of a practising neuropsychiatrist, researcher and consultant.
In addition to speaking on the topic of How a shrink thinks, Professor McConnell answered numerous student questions about his life and work - a most generous offering of personal time to our students. The QAHS academic community was inspired and no doubt there were a number of budding psychiatrists in the audience who will remember this as a pivotal moment in their learning journey.
