The STEM Mentor Masterclasses are an annual series of events, which form the culmination of our Year 11 STEM Mentor's Program activity. The STEM Mentors are a group of students (47 in Year 11, 53 in Year 10) who are initiated in Year 10, and who work throughout Year 11 to plan and deliver STEM workshops to students in Year 6. The workshop groups are “Awesome Airways" (Exercise Science), “Marvellous Mixtures" (Chemistry), “Phantastic Physics" (Physics and Engineering), and “Mathematical Mysteries". This year our Year 11s continued to prove themselves to be well organised, adaptable, and able to quickly develop a rapport with the Year 6s, in delivering their 90 minute workshops. The workshops happen over four weeks, with Year 11s presenting to four different groups of Year 6s of 15-20 in number. Overall they will work with over 70 Year 6 students during the 2022 STEM Masterclass.

This year for the first time, our newly initiated Year 10 mentors are also shadowing their senior counterparts to help prepare them for their own role as mentors next year. The event has become a regular part of the our partner primary schools' calendars, the Year 6s are widely reported to value the experience as an exciting and prestigious opportunity, and our Year 11s are always very generous with their time and enthusiasm. Thank you to staff who have supported the program with their help: Mrs Parks, Ms Newlove, Mrs Rebgetz, Mr Nicholson, Mrs Cheng, Ms Beigbeder, Ms Baker, Mr Lal, Mr Hillman.
