QAHS Sporting Achievements
We endeavour to acknowledge the tremendous range of sporting achievements by our students. Please see a list of recent sporting accomplishments:
Mia Bergh and Taylah Morris
QAHS is becoming a powerhouse in the world of race walking – with two of our very own competing at the recent Queensland Athletics Championships. Mia is a seasoned campaigner when it comes to walking at an incredible pace – finishing 1st in the U18 Women's 5000m event in a time of 28.04. Mia also finished 3rd in the Open Women's 10000m event. Taylah is relatively new to the sport, though is one to watch in the future! Taylah finished 4th place in the U16 Women's 3000m event in a time of 21.38. Both students have qualified for the Australian Track and Field Championships starting next week in Sydney.

Celeste Nutley
The surf conditions have been incredibly challenging recently, though this has not stopped Celeste and her surf boat team – the Currumbin Chilli Pepperz. Celeste is an experienced 'clubbie' from Surfers Paradise SLSC, though competing with Currumbin's specialist surf boat team. This is not an event for the faint hearted (see the picture below). The team collected the Silver medal in the U19 Surf Boat relay at the Queensland State Championship at Dickie Beach. Come and support Celeste and the team as they compete at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Broadbeach next week.

Madeline Howell and Jordan Klos
We have some exciting news to share from the pool deck, with Madeline and Jordan returning from the South Coast Regional Swimming trials at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. Jordan swam an incredible personal best in both of her nominated events – 50m and 100m Breaststroke. Madeline competed in 5 events, placing 2nd in the 100m Backstroke and 3rd in the 50m Backstroke finals. Madeline will now progress to the Queensland State Swimming Championships in Brisbane shortly.
Sabien Serbanescu, Joaquin Segui, Matteo Lai and Alex Soong
The students above took to the court at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre this week to trial for the South Coast School Sport Volleyball team. It was impressive to see four players from QAHS representing the Broadwater District team. The competition is always fierce when it comes to securing a spot for the state champs, with Sabien making the team who will compete next term in Brisbane.
We are immensely proud of our students and their achievements both on and off the playing court, ocean, pool and track.
Stay tuned for another update shortly, including QA representative-level achievements in golf, hockey, AFL, power lifting, athletics, surf lifesaving and rock climbing. Feel free to share your story!
