On Saturday 11 March, twenty nine QAHS Music students in Years 10, 11 and 12 attended the QACI Music Composition Camp, at the QACI Campus in Brisbane. The day of workshops, provided by the QACI Music department offered students hands-on experience in a variety of musical contexts, including Japanese koto playing, Indian tabla drumming, music technology, and a contemporary arranging workshop.

Students were treated to an hour long performance and discussion by the Muses Trio, a group which focus on performing works by female composers, and who presented a fantastic question and answer session on the strategies and skills required to succeed as a professional artist. Our students enjoyed working along side their QACI counterparts, which provided alternative perspectives and the opportunity to build collaborative relationships for the future.

We look forward to providing opportunities in the future for our Music students to collaborate with the staff, students and resources at QACI, and we are very grateful especially to Ms Sophie Collis, of QACI, for inviting us and coordinating the event.
Don't forget, students, families and friends are welcome to come and be part of history, as we present our first ever Music Showcase Concert. This concert will feature our three school ensembles, QAHS String Ensemble, Concert Band and Jazz Band, and it will also feature a number of student solo performances.
Presented by QAHS Music Student Leaders. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. See you there!
