On Saturday 26 October, the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus hosted the 2019 STAQ awards. The State-wide competition celebrates STEM project work from all over Queensland and only those students who received awards at their regional competitions gain entry into the prestigious event. This year, the following QAHS students were officially recognised at the STAQ awards ceremony, placing their research projects as some of the very best in Queensland.
Congratulations to the following students:
George Tian – 1st place in the Scientific Investigations category. George was also awarded a $250 bursary from the Australian Society of Biochemistry.
Annabel Jellett – 2nd Place in the Scientific Investigations category.
Max Woodcock – 3rd Place in the Scientific Investigations category.
Hayley Naidoo – 2nd Place in the Mathematical Investigations category.
Gaaine Hwang - $200 Bursary from Birdlife Australia
Congratulations to these students and all QAHS students who produced outstanding STEM research projects this year. Our current Year 11 students are just beginning their Extended Essay research proposals and we look forward to seeing where their research will take them in 2020.
