Joshua Narain has made an exceptional effort to place 3rd in the Queensland All School Triathlon Championships.
Student reflection, Joshua Narain.
'This year was my last All Schools State triathlon. After school nationals triathlon was cancelled last year, I lost a little bit of motivation towards training and had a large period of time focusing more on my running with a little bit of swimming and riding here and there without consistency. However, about four or five weeks prior to the triathlon I decided I wanted to give All Schools a good shot this year with an aim of making the podium and upped the swim and ride again. I feel that I raced quite well given the limited preparation with regards to the swim and ride and was extremely happy to come away with a bronze. Triathlon is a unique sport, and you never know what will happen on race day. I had a relatively good swim, coming out the water second and leading the chase pack however fell back slightly on the ride. But the unpredictability of triathlon lead to four other athletes getting penalised for drafting and bumped me up into third as I headed out onto the run. I closed out well and had a good race achieving a personal best and feeling quite solid overall. However, I am quite excited and eager to race against similar competition in a few months time at School State Championships and see how I can go there.'
