During Term 3 a number of Year 11 and Year 12 students undertook the University of Melbourne's (School of Mathematics and Statistics) 2021 Research Competition. This competition involved students working either independently or within a team of up to three people on a project of their choice from a set of eight pre-determined open-ended questions. Students then had to present their findings within a formal written report or creating a visual display.
As such, we are very excited to announce that a QAHS senior team has been selected as one of six finalists within the Senior category of the competition! The team is composed of Year 11 students Jason Sinclair, Anna Tian and Thien Tran. These students will now present a synopsis of their research in a ten minute timeslot within a Webinar, Thursday 28 October. They will also have to field questions from a panel of judges and other academics during this time.
We look forward to hearing about the students experience and wish them the best of luck for the finals!
