Gold Coast performance successes

Congratulations to all students on their outstanding performances recently.

Sayo Kokubun Year 10, performed in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod and came

  • 1st in the Cello/Double Bass Solo 14 and 15 years section
  • 3rd in the Intermediate String Championship.

She also performed Prayer by Ernest Bloch on Assembly to farewell the Japanese Exchange group.

I am glad to report that Amy Zhou Year 10, attended piano competition at the 33rd Gold Coast Eisteddfod Music, Dance and Drama 2014 at Robina Community Centre from 6 – 10 August.  She competed in four categories and had great results.

  • Restricted Solo – 13 years and over:  1st Prize
  • Composition by 20th Century or Current Composer – 15 years and over:  2nd Prize
  • Solo – 16 years and over: 2nd Prize

Association Diploma and Certificate of Performance – Solo: Very Highly Commended

Ben Oxley Year 10 – performed in the Vocal Eisteddfod and sang Bui Doi from Miss Saigon.

Zandra White Year 10, competed in three sections, all on alto saxophone:

  • 1st Prize – Woodwind/Brass Solo 13-15 yrs
  • 1st Prize – Non-Classical Woodwind/Brass Solo 14 yrs and under
  • 1st Prize – Intermediate Woodwind/Brass Championship 13-15 yrs

Zandra also received results for her Trinity Grade 8 on Alto Saxophone, and received a High Distinction.

Brooke Smith Year 11- performed in the La Boheme Project  Opera Queensland. She was in the community chorus performing and working with professional opera stars and Queensland Symphony Orchestral players at the Arts Centre Gold Coast performing to full houses.
