ICAS English Results
Every year QAHS English students perform better than the Australian average on this independent, skills based assessment from the University of New South Wales. This English test assesses reading and language skills in a range of contexts. There are many aspects of texts which are assessed – these include: text comprehension—reading for meaning—in literary and factual texts; the writer’s craft in selecting particular text types, vocabulary and techniques; other specific vocabulary and syntax. The questions require students to locate, identify, sequence, explain, interpret, analyse and infer information in and about texts.
This year 28 students have received High Distinction (99 percentile) and Distinction (above the 89 percentile) English ICAS awards.
Congratulations to all the award recipients and to those who participated in this test. Well done.
