Stephanie excels in the South Coast Soccer team
Recently Year 11 student Stephanie Kallas was selected to be part of the South Coast 16-19 yrs soccer team and travelled to Brisbane to take part in the Queensland state championships.
Stephanie had the following to say about her experience at the championships:
“The 16-19 years girls soccer state championships were held at Brisbane Grammar School in Northgate, Brisbane. It ran over the course of four days; from the 16th till the 19th of May. The best players from each region are chosen to play against other representative regions at this championship and then have the opportunity to be selected to represent Queensland.
In previous years I have attended these championships, I have been in the age group below (13-15). Hence, this year when I had the opportunity to play with teammates that are much older and more experienced than me, I knew it would be a great opportunity for me to learn. The skill level, the endurance and the gameplay were on a whole new level. I learnt so much over the four days and gained a lot of experience due to the competitive nature of the tournament. Overall, our team finished first in our pool but unfortunately lost the first game in cross-overs due to penalty shootouts.
It was a privilege to be selected to represent my region at the state carnival. Sport is a big part of my life and it provides me balance with my studies and enhances my wellbeing.”
We congratulate Stephanie on a successful state championships performance and look forward to all that she achieves in the future.
