Students attend the Chinese Language and Culture Camp
From Monday 21 to Wednesday 23 September eighteen QAHS students along with QASMT and QACI students participated in an immersion language and culture camp held by Confucius Institute at QUT in Queensland Conference and Camping Centre (QCCC).
The camp provided an opportunity for students to intensively engage with Chinese language and culture, especially to enhance students’ skills and knowledge in Mandarin.
“This cultural camp was great, I’ve met a lot of new people from schools such as QACI and St. Louis that I will be friends with for some time. It was an eye opening experience with the Mandarin I have both learnt and revised as well as the culture, including traditional dances, Tai Chi, martial arts and much more. We also got chances to express our creativity with a group of friends in a performance that I’m sure we’ll remember for a long time coming. To be honest, I wanted this camp to be longer than just the three days that it was and I’m beginning to regret that I didn’t get a chance to come last year. Lastly, I would most definitely recommend the Chinese Confucius Cultural Camp to anyone.”

“My Mandarin camp experience was excellent as I got to meet new people and learn more about Chinese culture, including language and Chinese past times such as kung fu and taichi, along with other physical activities. The learning was fun and enjoyable, minimal pressure was present, encouraging everyone to participate in the activities. All the 老师’s were very helpful, and were very approachable and told funny stories. The experience and knowledge I acquired is very beneficial and advantageous. The camp will be remembered for a long time.”
