The Premier’s Anzac Prize 2015

Congratulations to Year 12 student Jonathan Manifold and Year 10 student Ayla Tartic who have been selected among the seventy winners of the Premier’s Anzac Prize for 2015.

The Premier’s Anzac Prize encourages young Queenslanders to better understand the Anzac legacy and share their knowledge with others.

For two weeks in April/May, 2015 the seventy secondary school students will be chaperoned by the Anzac Prize team at DET International to Turkey, Belgium and France. Highlights of the tour include attending the Gallipolli Dawn Service on Anzac Day for the 100th commemoration.

Being the Anzac Centenary, a wide range of educational experiences are being planned, including the research of ‘adopted’ service people at Gallipolli, the Western Front or from the other major conflicts and peacekeeping mission.

Selection for this life changing experience was based on students’ production of a multimedia presentation capturing their understanding of the Anzac tradition. Jonathan’s presentation can be viewed below

and Ayla’s presentation can be viewed here.

We look forward to Jonathan and Ayla sharing their Anzac Centenary experiences with the Queensland Academies community upon their return.
