Well done Year 10 Debaters
Congratulations to our three Year 10 Debating teams who competed and won in Round 1 of the Gold Coast Debating Competition. Our Intermediate A Team of Isobella Kruger, Italia Malik, and Tayla Painter debated against A.B. Paterson College, while our Intermediate B Teams, including Angel Wallace-Miles, Natasha Rajkumar, John Simmonds, Jordan Lim, Chris Yao and Aditi Bhushan were awarded debates against Aquinas, and A.B. Paterson College, respectively. It was a valiant effort from all involved, and thanks must be extended to Myora Kruger for her coaching assistance.
Jordan Lim reflects:
“This year’s QAHS Year 10 intermediate debating team has really kicked off with a good start. The three intermediate teams, with five members in each team, competed at their first debate for the year on Wednesday 9 March at A.B. Paterson College and Helensvale State High School. It was very nerve-racking for each member, especially since the majority had never debated before. Despite this, they all did a fantastic job, each of the three teams winning against their oppositions.
The topic of the debate was: “Loyalty is valued”. All the teams argued with fiery passion and conviction with solid, and well thought out points, scoring each team a well-deserved victory. As the debating year kicks off with a perfect 3/3 for our QAHS debaters, let’s wish them the best of luck so that they may carry us all the way to victory!”
