Year 12 HL Chemistry – Griffith Lab Day

On Tuesday 20 June, our Year 12 HL Chemistry students spent the day completing practical work in the Griffith University laboratories. The experiments performed included the synthesis of Aspirin and the chemical identification of a range of organic compounds.

The lab day is the final component in a range of laboratory activities performed over years 11 and 12 and allows our students to gain credit in first year Chemistry at Griffith University. The students have the opportunity to use a range of equipment, chemicals and techniques they have not yet been able to use. They also get to experience the atmosphere of a genuine first year university lab.

Special thanks to Dr Andrew Pearson and his team at Griffith University for leading such a valuable lab experience for our students.
