At QAHS, we are proud to nurture a culture of scientific curiosity, leadership and innovation. As we look ahead to 2025, we are pleased to acknowledge the students who have applied to represent the Academy through the University of Queensland's Science Ambassador Program. These students have shown a strong commitment to STEM and a genuine interest in sharing their passion for science with the wider school community.
Ishman Bajwa, Wai Qi Cheong, Kiana Howitt, Johanna Lee, Delilah Nutley, Sandeep Panchumarthi, Jay Raddy, Prince Sidiangco, Adriana Smith, Mattias Steljic, Sergio Teng, Hanako Turner, Jelena Uzelac, John Wang, Izabella Wilson, Alice Yao and Nicole Yuan.
UQ Science Ambassadors act as liaisons between QAHS and the University of Queensland, promoting scientific events and initiatives throughout the year. One of their key responsibilities will be assisting in the coordination and promotion of National Science Week in August 2025 - an exciting calendar highlight featuring guest speakers, student-led exhibits, and engaging science showcases across campus.
These efforts are complemented by the ongoing work of our QAHS STEM Mentors, a dedicated CAS group of Year 11 and 12 students who support their peers and visiting primary school students in science-related learning and enrichment. Whether through peer tutoring, project support or outreach activities, the STEM Mentors play an important role in creating a collaborative and supportive learning environment for all.
Together, these programs help to collectively champion STEM at QAHS, ensuring that curiosity is celebrated, ideas are shared, and students are empowered to explore the frontiers of science and innovation.
