We are delighted to share that our two Year 12 students, Marion Khoo and Xinyu Tan, have officially completed their school-based traineeship with Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for both the students and our Academy, as Marion and Xin Yu are the first QAHS students to complete a school-based traineeship at Gold Coast University Hospital in conjunction with their International Baccalaureate studies.

Marion and Xin Yu have demonstrated outstanding perseverance, leadership, and risk-taking in pursuing this traineeship to complement their future pathways in health. Their commitment and ability to balance the academic demands of the IB with structured workplace learning have been truly commendable. The stories they have shared in relation to their consultations with patients and navigating the hospital wards are truly inspiring, further highlighting the remarkable compassion, resilience, and curiosity they have shown as emerging health professionals.

The wrap-around support from staff and the broader QAHS community has been deeply appreciated by the students. In particular, we extend our sincere thanks to the teachers of Marion and Xin Yu for your continued support and flexibility over the past 12 months in accommodating the weekly requirements of their traineeship. Your collaboration has been integral to their success and has strengthened our partnership with Gold Coast Health.

Importantly, this initiative has opened the door to ongoing dialogue with Gold Coast Health and various stakeholders to represent and explore future opportunities for highly capable learners in a sustainable way, supporting the future health pipeline here on the Gold Coast. The appetite from our community is certainly strong, and this achievement serves as an inspiring example of what can be accomplished through collaboration and shared purpose.

Congratulations once again to Marion and Xin Yu on this exceptional accomplishment. We look forward to sharing their success with the wider community.
