Congratulations to Year 12 student Zhuominna Ma who has been appointed to the role of Gold Coast Student Ambassador.
The 2022 Gold Coast Mayor's Student Ambassadors are from 14 countries, representing nine Gold Coast institutions from school to university. Over the year they will grow academically, personally and professionally in a program aimed at building a deeper understanding of themselves, fellow students and the wider Gold Coast community.
About the program, Zhuominna says:
“Designed to engage local and international students within the Gold Coast community, the Gold Coast Student Ambassador (GCSA) program has been valuable in strengthening my personal skills and in engaging with our city's affairs better.
The program is full of events such as visiting local landmarks, going behind the scenes of famous Gold Coast businesses, and attending leadership and professional masterclasses where we learn from industry professionals. I found out about how our City Council operates, and had the honour of representing a diverse group of students before the Mayor. There were excursions to local farms, to Home of the Arts (HOTA), to cultural centres, all of which coalesced into a comprehensive insight into our city and its relationship with students.
For me, these experiences were an opportunity for personal development, and also a chance to explore the city of Gold Coast through fresh lenses. Most of all, the GCSA is an exuberant community of hard-working scholars, bonded by our mutual love for the city. I've had a few eye-opening moments as an ambassador, and I look forward to the remainder of the program eagerly."
We wish Zhuominna all the very best as she continues to serve in her Ambassadorial role for our city.
