The first day of Term 4 begun a little differently for ten Year 11 students. To celebrate Seniors Month, these students attended the MCCCGC Sitting at the feet of our Elders event in Ashmore. This special gathering brought together seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds with our QAHS students. The event featured gentle activities, cultural performances, crafts, and shared lunch, creating a space for intergenerational connection and learning. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our students to give back to the community by sharing digital tips with our seniors, from using Google Maps and apps to navigating social media. This mutual exchange was both enriching and empowering for everyone involved.

"It was a very insightful experience. The opportunity to partake in connecting with my elders allowed me to gain insight into their outlook on our world and broadened my perspectives on different aspects. For example I had the chance to talk to a person who immigrated from Siberia, in Russia. Listening to her experiences allowed me to appreciate where we live and how cultures differ to ours. A key experience for me was the chance to connect with people who were originally from Hispanic countries, and speaking to them in Spanish which is the language I take at QA. Overall, I am glad I attended the event, and grateful for the people I had the chance to connect with on the day." – Kota Murayama (Year 11)
