Five of our Year 10 students have proudly represented QAHS in the Griffith University SuperGEMS program this year. This initiative, delivered in partnership with Supercars Australia, gives young women the opportunity to explore STEM pathways through hands-on experiences and exclusive access to motorsport engineering environments.

Throughout the year, our QAHS team worked on a high-level engineering investigation, answering the research question “What engineering trade-offs are required to achieve parity between the three different engine architectures (Chevrolet's pushrod, Ford's DOHC and Toyota's quad-cam) in Supercars?" This complex project involved analysing real industry data, understanding mechanical and aerodynamic considerations, and developing evidence-based recommendations.

The final presentations were held last week during the Year 10 exam block, and although many of the girls had exams scheduled that day, we are incredibly proud of Ava for attending the showcase at Griffith University and representing QAHS. Ava delivered the entire presentation, QAHS SuperGEMS poster HiRES.pdf , on behalf of the group to academics, Supercars representatives and other industry professionals. She spoke with confidence, clarity and deep understanding, reflecting the hard work and collaboration of the whole team.

Congratulations to Ava Prince, Shirin Golsefid, Sana Arvinth Kumar, Ella Cao and Pytence Efaraimo on an outstanding year of learning, teamwork and STEM innovation. They have represented QAHS with pride and continue to demonstrate what is possible for young women in engineering and motorsport.
