We are pleased to confirm that pathway allocations for the new QA Sport Program (Year 10/11 students) have been released. Thank you to students, staff, house captains and families for embracing the change in 2023! As expected, the risk taker pathway was very popular amongst the students and a ballot was held to secure one of the 170 places available. As you can imagine, we would love to give everyone their first preference – though safety and venue limitations do not allow this. Students who missed out on their first preference will be kept in a database for 2024, to enable them to have first preference for sport next year. We look forward to commencing our first sport day on Thursday 30 March, 2023. This will be for all Year 10 and 11 students. Year 12 students will be involved in our house competitions, cross country and our first official athletics carnival later in the year.

QAHS student excels in recent Surf Life Saving Championships

Year 10 student Lucca Pither is an emerging talent in the sport of Surf Life Saving. In the recent Summer of Surf Shannon Eckstein Classic, Lucca placed 4th in the board race in her age category. To add to the accolade, Lucca braved the 3-5ft surf conditions whilst up against a field of competitors from across Australia!

In February, Lucca competed in the State Youth Championships held in Mooloolaba and placed 10th in the board race and 4th in the board relay team event. She is now preparing for the National 'Aussies' Championship that are being held in Perth at the end of March. Congratulations Lucca and we wish you the best of luck at Aussies!

Year 12 student and resident race walker, Mia Bergh, has recently returned from the State Championship event. Mia competed in the U20 Women's category and placed 2nd, registering a speedy time of 56:35.

Mia has now turned her attention to training for Nationals, which will be held at the end of March in Brisbane. Congratulations Mia on your dedication to your craft and we wish you all the best for Nationals.
