The Gold Coast Junior Council program offers a unique platform for Year 10 and 11 students from Gold Coast schools to take part in decision-making processes involving our local government and the community. This year, the Junior Council comprises 140 students from over 30 Gold Coast schools.

The inaugural Council meeting this week, held at HOTA and the Gold Coast Council Chambers, acknowledged the wonderful contributions made by the 2023 Executive Committee and announced the new 2024 Executive Committee.

QAHS takes great pride in having our two Year 11 student representatives sworn in as Executive Committee members for 2024. We extend congratulations the 2024 Gold Coast Deputy Junior Mayor, Rihanna Patel, and her fellow Executive Committee member Year 11 student, Yanyan Zhang. The inclusion of two QAHS students on this committee of eight selected students is an achievement that brings great pride.

Welcoming our new Year 10 Junior Council representatives, Matilda Duhig and Mattias Steljic was a highlight as they embraced the opportunity to be a part of this dynamic group of leaders. Acknowledgements go to Year 12 students, Dante Pellegrino and Genevieve Chakuthip, for their outstanding contributions to Junior Council for the past two years.
