Friday 11 November was an extremely special day for our Year 12 students as they celebrated their final day together as a cohort at their Formal. I have had the pleasure of being their year level coordinator for the past three years and being able to celebrate this final event with them before they head off onto the next adventure was a privilege. It was an amazing night filled with fun, laughter and some emotional moments. I will treasure the memories of the last three years and it really was the best way to end this chapter.

Year 12 Student Reflection

On one particularly sunny day of November, Class of 2022 students officially graduated from the Academy's very own Lecture Theatre for the last time. The next night, they hit the floors of Gold Coast Turf Club and danced the night away. Formal is always an exciting and engaging celebration where students recognise the efforts they have put into the last three years of schooling and rejoice at its completion, and our cohort was no exception. This year, the Formal Committee, led by (the most amazing) Year Coordinator Miss Day, planned thoroughly and diligently throughout the year for a smooth-running evening, and they exceeded all expectations by presenting us with one of the most memorable nights at a beautiful venue.

The arrivals were well coordinated, and everyone looked extremely stunning, it was simply rewarding to see my peers out of uniform and all dressed up! The photography team were awesome, and we also had some fancy courses throughout the night. Awards for the “most likely to…" were handed out, and how fitting they were for both students' and teachers' categories! Mr Yang and I (the Yang twins) were given the privilege to send final well wishes to the wonderful Class of 2022, then we targeted the photobooth and had endless fun bouncing on the dance floor. Closing addresses were presented by both Mrs Rebgetz and Miss Day, both of which brought out some tears from students and speakers themselves. As Formal truly marks another new beginning for the Class of 2022, we are extremely proud of how far we have travelled, and we look forward to this new chapter of life.
