QAHS implements the Mentor Learning Community (MLC) Program (pastoral care program) which offers students a holistic approach to promote wellbeing on both an individual and collective level, and in turn through the support of a teacher mentor, nurture student success.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The IB Learner Profile represents ten attributes valued by IB World Schools. These attributes enable individuals and groups to become responsible members of local, national and global communities. All students have the opportunity to identify and utilise their character strengths whilst embodying the IB Learner profile.

Character strengths are viewed as our positive personality traits in that they are our core capacities for thinking, feeling, and behaving in ways that can bring benefit to us and others (2017 VIA Institute on Character).

Collaboratively in MLC, students learn how to strengthen their relationships, enhance personal resilience and explore what it means to be a global citizen through workshops, lectures, resource-based tasks and reflective activities.
