Last week, QAHS proudly celebrated Gifted Awareness Week, joining schools across Australia in recognising and supporting highly capable learners through this year's theme: Varied Voices, Shared Future.
The week was celebrated in a range of activities throughout the week. The festivities commenced with Monday's Rubik's Cube Competition, showcasing problem-solving skills, persistence and friendly competition, with a helping hand from Rubik's Cube master - Jack. At Tuesday's assembly, students heard from QAHS alumna Mathilda (Class of 2023), who shared valuable insights into maintaining balance and wellbeing throughout the IB journey. On Wednesday, alumnus Dante (Class of 2024) engaged students in an interactive Q&A session, offering practical advice and reflections on success as a highly capable learner. This format enabled students to ask questions of Dante in a relaxed lunch-time atmosphere.

The Library became a hub of intellectual challenge on Thursday, with students enjoying a mini escape room, lateral thinking puzzles and analytical games designed to encourage curiosity, collaboration and creative problem-solving.
Friday's program focused on connection, wellbeing and looking to the post-school future. The week concluded with the annual Wellbeing Picnic in the Green Heart, where students gathered to enjoy time with peers, celebrate one another's achievements and strengthen the sense of community that is central to life at QAHS. The day culminated with the Thrive Session featuring QAHS alumni panel, gaining valuable perspectives on university study, career pathways and life beyond the Academy.

Gifted Awareness Week serves as an important reminder that highly capable learners thrive when their diverse strengths, and voices are recognised and supported. We thank our alumni, staff and student leaders for their contributions in making this year's celebrations such a success.
