On Tuesday 28 July, Year 10 students Aichen He and Jason Zhou attended the Queensland Brain Bee Challenge Day and Laboratory Tour at the Queensland Brain Institute, The University of Queensland. Aichen and Jason were among 40 students from across the state who progressed to the second round of the Brain Bee Psychology Challenge.
During the day, students toured research laboratories exploring areas of psychology such as creativity, sleep and coordination. This was followed by a range of interactive group activities designed to test their knowledge of the brain’s structure and function. Activities included visual art, poetry, matching animal brains to the correct animals, and fast-paced quiz rounds on brain facts.
Aichen and Jason’s team was recognised for their poetry and memorisation skills. Both students enjoyed the opportunity to connect with other psychology students from around Queensland while gaining valuable insight into cutting-edge neuroscience and psychology research.
Congratulations to Jason and Aichen on progressing to the second round of the Brain Bee Challenge and for representing QAHS with enthusiasm and professionalism. Thank you for your commitment and effort throughout the day.
