The Year 10 cohort recently attended camp at Maroon Dam Outdoor Education Centre, where they stepped outside their comfort zones and into an environment designed to challenge and inspire. Throughout the experience, students participated in activities such as canoeing, hiking and rock climbing, each designed to strengthen connection, teamwork, and leadership skills.
While canoeing, students worked in pairs to coordinate their movements, communicate clearly and navigate the water together, reinforcing trust and cooperation. During hiking activities, they supported one another through physical challenges, building resilience and a shared sense of achievement. Rock climbing encouraged students to confront personal fears, demonstrate perseverance, and rely on their peers for encouragement and safety support.

Through these shared experiences, students developed stronger relationships, enhanced their problem-solving skills, and gained confidence in their ability to contribute positively to a team. The camp provided a valuable opportunity for personal growth, reinforcing the importance of communication, trust, and collective effort within our school community.
Student reflections:
Year 10 Camp at Maroon Dam was probably the best camp I've ever had throughout my whole primary and high school so far because I've made so many new friends that share the same interests and humour as me. I also loved the activities we did with our Global Learners class because it really helped break that awkward tension in the air that was lingering from fifirst four weeks of school since no one knew each other, we did group activities such as rock-climbing, cookout, blindfold walking etc in groups of people that we've never spoken to before.

I really enjoyed being at Camp and getting to know everyone better. I loved the team-building activities, the hike, the view, swimming at the lower portals, the high ropes, our instructor, my cabin, meeting new people, and becoming better friends with people I already knew. It was a really great experience for me and I enjoyed it immensely.

I thought camp was very good, the instructors, especially Ben, was great and the food was quite good! The free time was very good as well where all the students can connect with each other, and the activities were fun. The Global Learners class allocation is a great idea to meet new people. One of the best camps I have been to, great spot to visit.
