Please join us in celebrating the success of our QAHS student athletes below.

Year 11 student Matilda Duhig represented both QAHS and the South Coast region at the Queensland School Sport State Track Championships. Competing in three gruelling events — the 1500m, 3000m, and 2000m steeplechase — Matilda showcased her dedication, endurance, and talent on the track.

Her highlight performance came in the 2000m steeplechase, where she claimed victory to become the 17 Years Girls State Champion. Adding to her impressive results, Matilda also placed 4th in the 3000m and 6th in the 1500m, proving her strength across multiple long-distance disciplines.

This is an outstanding achievement at state level, and we congratulate Matilda on her success and the example she sets as both an athlete and a student.

Last month, Cooper Hudson proudly represented Australia as part of the Australian Surf Life Saving Team competing in New Zealand. He podiumed in all of his team relay events and also earned an individual bronze medal in the 50m Manikin Carry. Back home, he backed it up with an outstanding effort in the Shaw and Partners Coolangatta Gold, completing a gruelling course of a 7 km ski, 1 km swim, 2 km board, and 1.5 km run with 500m transitions in between. This year marked Cooper's first opportunity to step out of the youth division, making his achievements even more impressive.

QAHS 2024 graduate Riko Danjo continues to shine in her sporting journey at the collegiate level. Representing the South Dakota State University women's golf team, Riko delivered an outstanding performance at the Fall Jackrabbit Invitational, held at Grand Falls Casino Golf Resort.

Riko finished the tournament as runner-up, just one shot behind the winner, with an impressive even-par score across the weekend. Her consistency and skill were highlighted by seven birdies, helping the South Dakota State team dominate the event.

We congratulate Riko on her continued success and look forward to following her achievements on the international stage.

Final Sport Day for 2025

In Week 1, QA students celebrated the final Sport Day for 2025, marking the start of the term with energy and enthusiasm. Students embraced the opportunity to earn House points through a lively day of dancing and by taking part in a range of new and exciting sports.

The sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for the event, and the atmosphere was filled with teamwork, competition, and plenty of fun. It was a fantastic way to finish the year's Sport Days, leaving students with lasting memories and plenty of House spirit.

This incredible achievement reflects the dedication, spirit, and teamwork of all Terra students, guided throughout the year by their enthusiastic House Leaders — Zia, Scarlett, Miro, and Alice.
