Our Year 10 cohort officially launched into Change in Action during their Global Learners session on Tuesday, marking the start of this year's public health challenge developed in collaboration with the Gold Coast Public Health Unit.
Students were introduced to this year's challenge: how can we design evidence-based public health strategies that prevent harm, change behaviour, and reach young people, without relying on social media? Teams began forming around focus areas including vaping and nicotine dependency, skin cancer and UV exposure, concussion and head injuries in sport, digital isolation, sleep deprivation, and nutrition misinformation.
The Year 10 cohort will officially enter the four-day CIA intensive from Monday 20 July to Thursday 23 July, working in teams to research, prototype, and pitch original public health solutions with support from industry mentors and QAHS alumni.

The event opens with a Gallery Walk from 11:30am, where guests can view each team's research display and vote for the People's Choice Award. From 12:00pm to 2:00pm, the Top 6 teams will pitch their solutions in the Grand Final to a live audience and panel of special guest judges in the Lecture Theatre.
