Students from Years 10 and 11 recently demonstrated outstanding skill and enthusiasm in a series of national and international computer science competitions, achieving exceptional results across both programming and computational thinking challenges.
Students participated in the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge, an international competition that assesses logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving without requiring prior programming knowledge. The challenge encourages students to think like computer scientists and apply computational thinking skills to real-world-style problems. Our students performed at a high level, achieving a range of awards.
Notable achievements in Bebras include:
Distinction Award
Lam Nguyen – Year 11
Nathan Samuel – Year 10
Credit Award
Rory Hams – Year 11
Aaron Zhou – Year 11
Merit Award
Mitchell Mayman – Year 11
Hana Truswell – Year 11

Students also competed in the Grok Academy Python.Comp competition, entering both the Beginner and Intermediate divisions. This competition focuses on developing practical programming skills using Python, requiring students to apply logic, problem-solving, and coding techniques to a variety of increasingly complex tasks. Our students again performed exceptionally well, earning a range of high-level awards including several Perfect Scores.
