Seven QAHS students travelled to Griffith University's Gold Coast campus on Thursday for the Year 9 to 11 Ambassadors Program, a day designed to introduce senior students to the breadth of study and career pathways available through Griffith Business School.
Beata Bemova, Lacey Caine, Eileen Chen, Lilly Kim, Mandy Wei, Savannah Yang and Sophia Zhang joined students from schools across the region for a program spanning topics from the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games through to the growing influence of artificial intelligence on the workplace.
The day opened with a session by Dr Ryan Gould and Dr Barry Fraser, exploring the visitor economy, looking at how tourism, hospitality, events and sport management will shape opportunities created by the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Students then rotated through a series of breakout sessions, including a trading room experience where they used the same tools as finance professionals to analyse live markets, Thinking with Machines, an exploration of artificial intelligence and critical thinking in a changing job market with Associate Professor Luke Houghton, and Making a Difference, a session unpacking how politics and diplomacy influence society and open future career doors.
The program closed with a Q&A panel featuring Griffith alumni and current Business School student leaders, giving QAHS students the chance to hear directly from those who have recently made the transition to university life.
Days such as this continue to strengthen the connection between QAHS and Griffith University, offering students valuable insight into study options and career pathways well ahead of key decision points.
