QAHS congratulates students Liza Gratchev, Woo Joon Ki, Jason Liu, Ayden Nguyen who competed in the QLD interstate chess championships: secondary schools over the weekend of 18th and 19th of October. The team qualified to compete via the Term 2 and 3 interschool tournaments on the Gold Coast, finishing in qualifying positions near the top of the rankings. This is the first QAHS team to qualify for the state championship which is to be celebrated and admired.
The team travelled to Brisbane to compete in intense rounds of play over two full days, playing teams from both city and regional Queensland. QAHS finished in 7th place in the state secondary division whilst being named best in region: Gold Coast, beating out a few Gold Coast schools.
