QAHS Debaters were pleased to welcome back alumnus (Class of 2024) Dante Pellegrino last Monday, who spoke with our debating students about the opportunities for growth and independent thinking that is offered through teamwork and public speaking.

Drawing on his own experience, Dante offered practical insights into navigating both good and bad luck in debating. He emphasised that while outcomes can be unpredictable, preparation, adaptability and thinking positively remain within a speaker's control. He encouraged students to view setbacks not as failures, but as opportunities to refine their thinking and strengthen their resilience.
Throughout the session, students were encouraged to embody the IB Learner Profile as Communicators and Thinkers and Reflective learners and provided practical tips to enhance independent and critical thinking.
We thank Dante for returning to QAHS and sharing his time and expertise. His message has set a strong tone for the season ahead as our students continue their preparation for the upcoming competition rounds.
