Year 12 Business Management students swapped their usual classroom routine for a consulting challenge led by the F3 Global team.

The team visited QAHS on Wednesday this week to work with students preparing for IB Business Management Paper 3, while also sharing insights into consulting, social enterprise, university study and future career pathways.

F3 Global is an international non-profit organisation that supports entrepreneurs in underserved communities through microloans, mentorship and business consultation. The organisation was co-founded by QAHS alumna Ananya Garg, with fellow QAHS alumna Amelie van Twest also part of the team. Ananya and Amelie graduated in the Class of 2023.

For the visit, F3 Global developed a consulting case study specifically for QAHS students. Based around the fictional Meridian Community Hospital, the case asked students to consider a range of financial, ethical and strategic challenges while balancing the organisation's long-term sustainability with its social purpose.

Students worked in groups to examine stakeholder perspectives, financial information and competing priorities before developing possible recommendations. The session was designed to support the decision making, application and justification skills required in Paper 3, while also giving students a closer look at how consultants approach complex business problems.

The workshop was delivered to Year 12 Business Management classes, with the case study also shared with the wider cohort for further practice ahead of upcoming mock examinations.

At lunchtime, the focus shifted to life beyond QAHS. Business Management and Economics students from all year levels were invited to join the F3 Global team for a networking session covering university study, different business-related degrees and emerging career pathways.

Students heard from an array of university students studying Business, Finance, Commerce, Law and Economics, including perspectives from The University of Queensland and the University of Melbourne. Contributors also joined online from the United States, giving students the opportunity to hear about different university systems and study experiences.

The discussion included pathways such as UQ's Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics, along with Law and Commerce, before opening into a broader Q&A. Students were able to ask about university choices, consulting, career interests and the transition from secondary school to tertiary study.

The value of the session continued after the visit, with some students seeking further contact with members of the group whose study and career pathways had particularly resonated with them.

It was also a welcome return to QAHS for Ananya and Amelie. Their visit offered current students the chance to learn from alumni who are now applying their interests in business and social impact beyond school, while contributing directly to the learning of the students who have followed them.

QAHS thanks Ananya Garg, Amelie van Twest, Andrew Beckingsale, Joselene Chen, Spencer Sanders and the wider F3 Global team for the preparation, time and support they provided to our students.

We look forward to continuing the connection with F3 Global and our alumni in the future.
