A passionate team of QAHS students and staff proudly supported the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation's Giving Day at Gold Coast University Hospital this week, bringing energy, professionalism and a strong sense of purpose to the event.

Working alongside Foundation staff and volunteers, students contributed across a range of roles, including donor calls, collecting donations, supporting market stalls and assisting with general event operations. Their willingness to step in wherever needed helped create a positive and engaging atmosphere.

The Gold Coast Hospital Foundation team were highly impressed with the energy, compassion and kindness demonstrated by all students across the afternoon. Their feedback highlighted not only the effort shown, but also the genuine care and maturity our students brought to their interactions with the wider community.

Students in the early shift were also given a behind-the-scenes tour of the hospital, offering valuable insight into the inner workings of a major healthcare environment. Meanwhile, those in the later shift had the unique opportunity to feature in the Channel 10 News weather cross, capturing the spirit of Giving Day and the role of volunteers in bringing the event to life.

At the time of writing, Giving Day has raised an impressive $246,000, with the final total still to be confirmed. QAHS is proud to have contributed to this collective effort, supporting initiatives that directly benefit patients, families and healthcare services across the Gold Coast.

The QAHS students involved were: Cerise P, Sofia B, Olivia S, Abhay M, Helena H, Ashley L, Minseo K, Caitlyn L, Kelly T, Priya A, Vyan P, Jasleen B, Diya V, Wai Qi C, Kai R, Allana O, Sara G, Alisha X, Michael C, Helen L, Delilah N, Emi W, Lilly K, Maya B, Sophia Z, Soraya V, Mandy W and Liza G.

Experiences such as this reflect the strength of QAHS's connection to the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, providing students with meaningful opportunities to engage beyond the classroom. It also contributes to students' CAS journeys within the IB Diploma Programme, reinforcing the importance of service, empathy and community involvement.

We look forward to supporting future events, including the Gold Coast Marathon and Christmas initiatives later this year!
