Queensland Academy for Health Sciences proudly joined surf clubs and communities across Australia in celebrating the inaugural Red and Yellow Day, an initiative led by Surf Life Saving Australia to recognise the incredible work of volunteer surf lifesavers.

During the lunchbreak, students and staff showed their support by wearing red and yellow accessories and taking part in a range of interactive activities. The lunchtime program included a simulated CPR challenge using our new mannikins, a rowing challenge, and an opportunity for qualified surf lifesaving members to share their experiences with other students interested in becoming involved.
Last Sunday, a group of QAHS students and staff also volunteered their time at Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club, assisting with the Mermaid Marvels inclusive nipper program and supporting a community car wash fundraiser raising funds for youth programs at the club.

A special mention to Aaron, Baileigh, Finn, Liam, Lorraine, Mattias and Mia for supporting on the day.
These opportunities reflect the strong connection between the QAHS Surf Lifesaving program and the local surf club community, providing students with meaningful ways to contribute through service and leadership.
Well done to everyone involved!
