QAHS students have achieved an exceptional result in the 2025 Griffith University's Responsible Leaders Challenge, securing first, second and third place in the national competition.
Delivered by Griffith Business School, this year's challenge required Year 10 and 11 students to act as marketing and engagement consultants for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Teams were tasked with developing research-informed strategies to raise awareness of non-clinical careers at Gold Coast University Hospital and better connect with future generations of workers.
Our students approached the task with professionalism and purpose by designing surveys, collecting student voice data, analysing generational values and presenting clear, evidence-based recommendations to address a genuine workforce challenge.
The final results were:
1st – Twinnovators
Alexander Earwicker and Sienna Earwicker
2nd – Leaders of Tomorrow – QAHS
Hrishi Modi, Jelena Uzelac, Miro Maitre and Pranav Shanmugasundaram
3rd – QAHS Musketeers
Kenta Matsumoto, Lam Nguyen and Shatadru Das

Notably, student voice data collected by Alexander and Sienna was later presented at the National Health and Innovation Precinct Summit as part of the QAHS presentation, extending the impact of their work beyond the classroom and into a national conversation about future workforce development. Furthermore, the work was shared onto the Director of People and Culture at Gold Coast Health. Each team were rewarded with gift cards, backpacks, certificates and goodies from Griffith University.
To take all three podium positions in a national field is an outstanding achievement. More importantly, it demonstrates the capability of QAHS students to apply business thinking to real-world health system challenges and contribute meaningfully to shaping the future workforce.
