At QAHS, we take pride in providing students with opportunities to gain real-world experience and expand their skills in professional environments. Three of our dedicated students, Lakshmi, Marion, and Xin Yu, have been making the most of their Gold Coast Health school-based traineeships, successfully balancing their work, study, and personal commitments while gaining valuable industry insights.
Since commencing their traineeships in September 2024, these students have shown incredible dedication, even taking on additional shifts during the holiday period to further enhance their skills and experience.
- Marion is completing her Occupational Therapy traineeship at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH), working alongside healthcare professionals to help patients regain independence in daily activities. Marion is engaged in pre-admission assessment of patients.
- Lakshmi is undertaking an Occupational Therapy traineeship at Robina Hospital, assisting patients with rehabilitation and mobility support.
- Xin Yu is training in Nursing at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH), where she is gaining valuable hands-on experience in patient care, clinical procedures, and hospital operations.
Through their traineeships, these students are developing key skills in patient care, communication, and teamwork, all while complementing their IB studies. Their commitment highlights the value of school-based traineeships in bridging the gap between education and industry experience.
