Across April and June, a group of QAHS students took part in the Bond University Health Experience Days, gaining a practical and inspiring introduction to careers in medicine, allied health, biomedical science and more. Held at Bond's state-of-the-art Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine on the Gold Coast, the event invited students to explore the world of healthcare through hands-on, simulation-based learning.

Selected Year 11 and 12 students participated in one of four sessions held on Saturdays, stepping into the role of a healthcare advisor and working as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage a patient's care. Students assessed vital signs, interpreted symptoms, and collaborated to design recovery plans in Bond's clinical simulation labs.

Year 11 student Jelena Uzelac reflected:

“We applied skills in real-world scenarios and worked in teams to create tailored care plans. It deepened my appreciation for patient care and reaffirmed my passion for health. I strongly urge anyone interested in health sciences to apply for this opportunity."

The application process was competitive. Earlier this year, interested students submitted an internal nomination, outlining their interest in health and how the opportunity aligned with their future goals. Selected students were then invited to complete the official Bond University registration.

We thank Bond University for hosting such a valuable initiative and commend our QAHS participants for representing the Academy with maturity, curiosity and professionalism.
