Our Term 2 Music Showcase, held on Wednesday of Week 5 in the Lecture Theatre, was well attended and warmly received by our school community. The concert featured the ongoing work of our school Concert Band and Stage Band (co-directed by Ms Sue Purton and Mr Armstrong), and our String Ensemble (co-directed by Ms Ferrers and Ms Inglis), who have each been working throughout semester one in preparation for their Gold Coast Eisteddfod performances in Term 3.
The concert also featured a number of student soloists, Cayden Chung (saxophone), and Crystal Chen (piano). There were also a number of student-led chamber groups, a piano trio of Aiden Donnelly, Cheyenne Kwok, Johanna Lee; a string quartet led and composed for by Jason Liu (violin), Xiaochuan Wan (violin), Nicholas Wrightson (viola), and Shuma Goto (cello); and a Chinese Music Ensemble also led by Jason Liu (vocals), with Xiaochuan Wan (vocals), Summer Xia (piano), Nora Dong (pipa), and Chloe Mo (drums).
