Our QA Surf Lifesavers are gearing up for the upcoming Surf Life Saving season with a strong start to training in Term 3. On Friday afternoons, new and returning members have been working together at the Griffith University Pool and on land (poolside), with many of our experienced lifesavers stepping up to mentor and support the newest members of the team in CPR and rescue techniques.

From mid-September, our qualified members will commence their voluntary patrols at Mermaid Beach SLSC and other clubs across the Gold Coast, while new recruits will participate in either a land-based or water-based Surf Life Saving course later in Term 4. These courses form part of the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) program, one of the many opportunities available to students at QAHS to develop skills, build leadership, and contribute to the wider community.
A special thank you goes to Mrs Hudson, who has expertly guided students during the pool sessions, ensuring that all members are developing the confidence and ability needed for the season ahead.
We look forward to officially announcing our QA Lifesaver Captains for the coming season and also present the new QA Lifesaver badges to members who have met the volunteer service requirements last season, set by our QA Lifesaver leaders. The badge criteria includes a minimum of 25+ hours of volunteer service, regular attendance for CAS sessions, supporting/welcoming new students and giving back to the Surf Life Saving community through volunteer and water safety initiatives throughout the season.
